The Scindia Research Centre had the honour of welcoming Amb. Raj Kumar Shrivastava, the Dean of Sushma Swaraj Institute of Foreign Service (Ministry of External Affairs), in Gwalior.
An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, Amb. Shrivastava is a prominent diplomat. During his visit, Amb. Shrivastava toured the Scindia Palace (Jai Vilas Palace) and the Scindia Cenotaph Complexes, he also interacted with students.
The Head of the Scindia Research Centre presented a replica of the Rajmudra of Maharaja Madho Rao II Scindia to Dr. Ajay Kumar, the chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), at the UPSC Bhavan Dholpur House in New Delhi.
The Scindia Research Centre was honored to host the ambassador of Denmark, H. E. Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, in Gwalior, where he delivered the Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia - King Christian IV lecture to commemorate the legacy of these monarchs as builder Kings. During his visit, the ambassador toured the Scindia Palace (Jai Vilas Palace), constructed in 1874, the Gwalior Fort, the Scindia School, the Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, and the Scindia Cenotaph Complex in Gwalior. In his lecture, the ambassador discussed India-Denmark relations and the Danish model of development.

A paper titled “Marathas (Scindias) and the Irish: A Chronicle of Connections and Heritage” was presented on behalf of the @scindia_research_centre at the conference focused on Ireland & India - Shared Histories and Interconnected Pasts in New Delhi, organized by the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and the University of Notre Dame USA.

The Scindia Research Centre, in collaboration with the High Commission of South Africa and Jiwaji University Gwalior, hosted the Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia-Nelson Mandela lecture. The lecture was delivered by H. E. Prof. Anil Sooklal, the first Indian-origin High Commissioner of South Africa and former Sherpa for South Africa at G20, BRICS, and IBSA. He is recipient of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) — the highest honour awarded to overseas Indians by the Government of India — for his notable contributions in the field of diplomacy. He spoke about the ties between the Scindia family and Africa, as well as the diplomatic relations between India and South Africa.

At the invitation of the Scindia Research Centre, H. E. Mr. Kevin Kelly, the ambassador of Ireland to India, conducted an official visit to Gwalior to deliver the Dr. Alymer Martin Crofts Lecture at the Jai Vilas Palace, which was constructed in 1874. Dr. Alymer Martin Crofts, who was born in County Cork, joined the Indian Medical Service in 1877. He remained in India until 1914 and was tutor, mentor, and lifelong friend of the Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia, also known as “Maker of modern Gwalior,” For nearly 17 years, Irishman Crofts had been in Gwalior performing the joint official duties of Residency Surgeon and Medical Adviser to His Highness.

Ambassador Kevin Kelly’s visit to Gwalior and Shivpuri significantly bolstered India-Ireland ties through a series of engagements at premier educational institutions established under the patronage of the Scindia dynasty. Strengthening cultural and diplomatic ties, the Ambassador of Cuba, H.E. Juan Carlos Marsan visited Gwalior and attended the historic Shinde Shahi Dussehra celebrations. The Scindia Research Centre (SRC), in partnership with the National Maritime Foundation (NMF), organised a lecture titled “Indian Navy: The Maratha Legacy,” by former Deputy Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Murlidhar Sadashiv Pawar (Retd.) at the the historic Jai Vilas Palace Gwalior. During his presentation, the admiral underscored the difficult conditions under which Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaja established the Maratha Navy, confronting numerous adversaries, including the most formidable continental power of the time, the Mughal Empire, and the leading maritime power, Portugal.
